Villa Kunterbunt Lantau

Villa Kunterbunt, meaning House of Variety in German, rescues and re-homes companion animals (mainly dogs) of all breeds, ages, and health concerns. Founder Okka Scherer has over 20 years of experience in animal rescue, the shelter is operated by her, along with a group of committed volunteers, and funded entirely by donations and fundraising efforts.

Many of the dogs cared arrive in need of expensive medical care or intensive behavioural training.

Rescued dogs are micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, and vaccinated by a veterinarian, who also gives them a basic health check and provides VKB with an estimate of their age. The dogs are de-sexed (when required), given any additional veterinary treatment to return them to good health and cared for while waiting adoption into a permanent, loving, carefully matched home.
